Committee for Agriculture Development Fellowship in Seed Science
Intent
It is essential to attract and retain seed industry leaders and prepare them for management positions in the industry. The intent of this fellowship is to support graduate students and prepare them to successfully manage seed research, education and business.
Eligibility Criteria
Distributions shall be in accordance with the following:
- The recipient shall be enrolled in or accepted to a graduate degree program in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University.
- This fellowship shall be made available only to students pursuing their MS or PhD degrees.
- The recipient shall have a research emphasis on seed related topics as determined by the Director of the Seed Science Center.
Scholarship Conditions
Fellowships shall be awarded for a term of one year but may be renewed for up to five additional years (a total of six) provided the recipient continues to remain eligible.
Application Requirements
- Essay
Applicants should compose an essay explaining their professional goals and motivations to pursue a graduate degree at ISU. The essay should include work experience, especially responsibility for testing, designing, researching, or interning in the seed industry. The essay should specify professional and/or academic interests including potential topics that may be investigated in creative component, thesis, or dissertation projects. Applicants should indicate how they plan to be leaders in the seed industry after completing the program.
- Recommendations
Each applicant must provide the name and contact information of two individuals (excluding family members) who will provide a letter of recommendation. The two letters should be uploaded as part of the application process.
Application Process
Applications will be accepted online only. Before beginning the application process, please make sure the essay and recommendation letters are ready to be uploaded. A panel of faculty members and staff will review the applications and recommend fellowship recipients to the Director of the Seed Science Center.
