June 13, 2024, Ames, IA- The Online Graduate Program in Seed Technology and Business (STB) at Iowa State University (ISU) is excited to announce that registration is open for its on-campus short course in Seed Science and Technology which will take place November 13-15, 2024 at the ISU Seed Science Center.
This short course series is available for seed industry professionals looking to learn more about new technologies and processes as they relate to the science of seed. Attendees will participate in focused morning presentations and discussions, and finish the day with industry tours in Central Iowa. Transportation to the industry tours is provided.
Daily topics and confirmed speakers will focus on:
- Seed Treatment, with speakers Dr. Gary Munkvold (Iowa State) and Gerard Denny (Incotec)
- Seed Conditioning, with speaker Alan Gaul (Iowa State)
- Seed Physiology, with speakers Dr. Jianming Yu (Iowa State) and Dr. Susana Goggi (Iowa State)
Confirmed daily afternoon tours will take place at:
- Wednesday – Incotec (Urbandale, IA)
- Thursday – Iowa State University Seed Conditioning Tower (Ames, IA)
- Thursday – Syngenta Parent Seed Production Facility (Slater, IA)
- Friday – PowerPollen (Ames, IA)
The on-campus short course will take place 8:00 am – 5:00 pm CSDT on Wednesday, November 13 and Thursday, November 14, and 8:00 am – 3:00 pm CSDT on Friday, November 15 to give attendees time to travel home.
Cost is $1,695 for the general public, and $1,495 for current master’s students. Email seedgrad@iastate.edu to receive the student discount code.
